We’ve had a phenomenal Fall/Winter/Spring, with temperatures remaining around 40*F since September, 2014. Consequently, the berry bushes are leafing out at least one month early, the Sockeye (Red) Salmon were spotted jumping in late-April instead of mid/late May and all the big game (Sitka Deer, Roosevelt Elk, Kodiak Brown Bear) populations are healthy and dense. {Current German guests report their own similar long spell of mild weather.}

Today, the temperature has climbed to 48*F so the winter forest-debris is being cleaned up, the greenhouse is protective of the many plants/bulbs/seeds which will eventually spruce-up our surrounding virgin Sitka Spruce forest, as ground temperatures continue to warm.

Springtime is an enthusiastic, busy time for both folks and all facets of Nature . . . radiating the energy every entity needs to fulfill their seasonal duties.

The 2,600 mile Humpback Whale migration from Hawaii to Kodiak’s rich feeding waters will likely be equally early. Here, they mingle with the year-round marine wildlife of seal, sea-lion, sea-otter, Killer/Orca & other whales, who put on dynamic displays during their summer “conventions” in Alaska.

So, anticipation of another wonderful Summertime-in-Alaska is the invisible fuel that keeps us loving rural life in our corner-of-paradise. Sharing it with fellow appreciators makes it even more enjoyable for us.

Here’s a link showing a bit of what our unique area has to offer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf-UXsvCOpU

We look forward to the great collection of similar-minded “really smart” folks we’ll get to share this true-wilderness with this coming Summer.

Life is good.
